The Nursing Council of Kenya accredits Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery to offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN). The BScN is a four-year program designed to equip nursing students with the competencies needed to function in patient-centered care.

Once you complete the course, you will be eligible to enter the nursing profession as an intern nurse. Next, you need to pass your mandatory nursing licensure examination by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and a mandatory one-year internship to qualify for the license to practice as a professional nurse.?

 

Aga Khan University Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Entry requirements

 

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)

A minimum aggregate score of C+ (plus). In addition, a candidate must meet the cluster grades as shown below:

Cluster A: Applicants should possess an aggregate grade of C+ in the following cluster of subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics; and English or Kiswahili.

OR

Cluster B: Applicants should possess an aggregate grade of?? C+ in the following cluster of subjects: Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics; and English or Kiswahili. ?

 

2. Advanced level certificate holders

Minimum entry requirements include Principal passes of C in Biology and Chemistry, along with at least a subsidiary pass in either Mathematics or Physics.

 

3. International Baccalaureate (IB)

Grade 4 and above in the cluster subjects of Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics.

How To Apply 

Candidates are encouraged to apply online here. Only in exceptional situations where the online application is not accessible may applicants request a paper-based application form by emailing the Admission Office at admissions.ke@aku.edu.

Candidates must note that whether submitting the application online or in hard copy, the following documents must be provided alongside the completed application form.

  • Copies of your Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), International Baccalaureate (IB) Certificate, Advanced Level certificate, Diploma in Medical Sciences, Undergraduate degree certificate or other relevant academic documentation.
  • Copy of school leaving certificate
  • Copy of National Identity Card or Passport or Birth Certificate (for those under 18 years of age).
  • A copy of the equivalence certificate from the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA)
    for those who have international grades.
  • Passport-size colour photographs (labelled with your name for those submitting hard copy applications. Passport-sized; coloured photo with white background; attested on the back, taken within the last week to reflect your current
    appearance,  the photo should show a clear, front view, the full face of the person. Snapshots, mobile phone photos or low-quality photos are not acceptable.

Incomplete applications will not be processed. An application is considered incomplete when requisite information is not provided on the Application Form, or where required documents are not included in the application submitted.

Application Fee: Ksh 3,000

Note: You will be required to do a written test in English which consists of multiple-choice questions for Mathematics and
Science (Biology & Chemistry) Knowledge.
