JKUAT Nursing Requirements and Fees Structure

JKUAT as public in Kenya offers a variety of BSc nursing (BScN), Master in Nursing, and Ph.D. in Nursing programs. 

Admission Requirements for BScN at JKUAT

To be eligible for admission to the BScN program at JKUAT, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a minimum of a C+ grade in KCSE or its equivalent, with a C+ in each of the following cluster subjects: English/Kiswahili, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
  • Have a valid KCSE certificate.
  • It is good to note there are direct-entry students who are placed at the university by KUCCPS and self-sponsored who pay nursing fees by themselves. These two groups pay different fees and I will show you the fee structure of each group. Continue reading;

Application Process

To apply for admission to the BScN program at JKUAT, applicants must submit the following documents:

  • A completed JKUAT application form.
  • A certified copy of the KCSE certificate.
  • A certified copy of the birth certificate.
  • Two passport-size photographs.
  • A non-refundable application fee of  Degree:1,500/-; Masters:1,500/-,Post Diploma:1,500/-,Phd:1,500/- through bank or M-pesa.

Program Structure

The BScN program at JKUAT is a four-year program that includes both theoretical and practical components.

Students learn about a variety of topics, including anatomy and physiology, nutrition, pharmacology, and nursing practice.

BScN Upgrading at JKUAT University

Entry requirements:

  • Diploma in Nursing from any recognized institution
  • You must have not less than 2 years of working experience after attainment of the Diploma in Nursing
  • Finally, you must have a valid Practice license from the Nursing Council of Kenya

Courses duration:

Direct Entry: Four (4) academic years on

Mode of study: Full-time basis

Upgrading Programme: Eight (8) trimesters

Mode of study: Parttime/blended mode

JKUAT fee structure for self-sponsored students

The nursing fee structure per academic year and that of different courses. Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Kshs. 225,000.00.

Therefore, if per year you need Kshs. 225,000.00, you will need Kshs. 225,000.00*4 to successfully complete your BSc in Nursing.

A quick maths shows that you need approximately Kshs 900,000 for the entire four years.
